The Crisis Response Team (CRT)

Fall CRT Training 2019 - Click HERE for more Information

Chiron's Crisis Response Team (CRT) is honored to be celebrating our 20th year of service in 2018.  The CRT is activated directly by public safety personnel to provide free, 24/7/365, on-scene information, support, and referrals designed to offer immediate, compassionate, and practical resources for community members impacted by trauma and sudden loss in the Southern California area.  By activating the CRT, the uniformed personnel are able to focus on their essential duties knowing that the affected community members' practical and emotional needs will be addressed by the CRT Counselors.  This partnership allows all those involved in the incident to ultimately benefit from a more collaborative, comprehensive, and effective level of service and support.  Our on-scene response time is typically between 20 - 30 minutes, and we remain at the location for an average of 2 - 4 hours.

Although the CRT responds throughout the Southern California region, we provide the majority of our support to community members living in our three partner cities, Beverly Hills, Culver City, and Marina Del Rey where we have earned an unprecedented level of trust and respect from the public safety personnel we have served alongside since 1998.  The most typical requests for service are in response to fatal traffic collisions, completed suicide, homicide, death or serious injury of a child, workplace violence, and accidental or sudden death discovered by a family member, friend, or co-worker.

CRT Structure and Personnel:
The Team is structured in two tiers, Lead Counselors and the Volunteer Core; all of whom are supported by Chiron Center's Administrative Management Team.

The CRT Lead Counselors include eight seasoned members of the Team, many of whom have over 15 years of experience serving on the Crisis Response Team.
The CRT Volunteer Core is comprised of 15 – 20 mental health professionals and para-professionals who sign up for weekly call time.  All of the volunteers have successfully completed an initial 30 hours of training, a background check (including fingerprinting), and participate in on-going monthly supervision and training.

The Administrative Management Team supports all of the CRT functions.  We have live operators available 24/7/365 to answer our "emergency services personnel only"
telephone number, gather all the pertinent information, and dispatch CRT personnel to the scene.
To find out more information about the CRT Program, our training, or to become involved, please contact us via email, or at Extension 740.  We look forward to hearing from you!
