Mary Mitchell
Volunteer Coordinator & Program Animals Manager
Mary grew up in rural Maryland, as a proud 4th generation farmer on her family's homestead. As a young woman she set off on an adventure to the sub-artic, ultimately settling in Two Rivers, Alaska where she continued her passion for farming; raising livestock; creating homemade crafts including soaps and baskets; and developed her professional career as a caterer. After several wonderful decades, she packed up and headed to Oregon in 2014 to be closer to her daughter, bringing her beloved dog Peaches and her trusty steed Siksika (Seek) on the cross-continent journey.
Mary began serving as Chiron's Volunteer Coordinator and Program Animals Manager in residence at Arrowhead Ranch in 2021. She remains the "heart" of the Ranch, nurturing humans, flora and fauna alike. Her delicious ranch-raised creations, healthy livestock, and dedicated troop of volunteers keep our programs nourished, creative, and joyful!
In her time away from the Ranch, she delights in finding pristine natural hideaways to camp and relax with her loved ones under the stars.
