Claudio Medina is a certified Disaster Relief Chaplain who retired after 28 years as a Captain and Paramedic of the Los Angeles County Fire Department where he served as the Critical Incident Stress Management and Peer Support Coordinator for over 20 years. He facilitated behavioral health support services for countless critical incidents, including large-scale events such as the 1992 Los Angeles Riots/Civil Unrest, the 2001 Terrorist Attacks, the 2005 Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the 5-fatality Esperanza Fire in 2006, the 2-fatality Station Fire in 2009, and the 19-fatality Yarnell Hill Fire in 2013, as well as innumerable hours of Peer and Chaplaincy support related to every issue imaginable.
Claudio is a national presenter on emergency services chaplaincy and has trained multiple departments regarding best practices; regularly consulting, training, and developing highest qualtity care standards specific to Peer Support and the Chaplain's role within emergency services. Claudio comes from a public safety family - both fire and law enforcement - and he is a passionately dedicated family man. He and his wife of over 30 years, Gina, have proudly watched their children grow to choose public service; and although their beloved grandchildren are still a bit too wee to be officially joining up, if/when they decide to join the public safety side of the family, they will truly be in extraordinary company.
